It was a privilege to work on such an important heritage home in the heart of Fremantle. The low-scale design, with material choices that evoke the past, resulted in a very successful aesthetic. The additions are contemporary, yet simultaneously echo the past. The design has a cathedral like plan, a central nave, with lower aisle sections either side. The projecting gables to the north are a passive solar design feature allowing winter sun penetration, while shielding higher altitude summer sun.
